JOB DESCRIPTION
This is skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive, construction, fire and rescue vehicles and maintenance equipment. Performs skilled work in repairs to automobiles, draglines, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, fire and rescue vehicles and a wide variety of other construction and maintenance equipment. Work includes both gasoline and diesel fueled apparatus. Employees work under the supervision of the Mechanic Shop Foreman. Employees use independent judgment concerning the methods of repair after receiving oral or written work orders from the Mechanic Shop Foreman.
Training and Experience
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience: High School graduation, and two (2) year journeyman level experience in the field of automotive mechanics, or graduation from an approved course in the trade, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES/MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license required. CDL Class B driver’s license preferred but not required.
