Contractors Can Now Update License and Insurance Documents Online
Contractors can now upload renewed licenses and insurance certificates, add new expiration dates, and track county review from the My BNZ Portal, with no trip to the office.

Columbia County Building & Zoning has launched a new online tool that lets registered contractors keep their license and insurance records current. Contractors no longer need to bring or email renewed documents to the office. They can upload them and enter the new expiration dates through the My BNZ Portal, and county staff will review them.
See where your records stand
The Update Contractor Documents page shows the expiration date the county has on file for each of these:
- State license
- County license
- Liability insurance
- Workers’ compensation insurance
- Workers’ compensation exemption
Each date is labeled Current, Expires in N days (within 30 days), Expired or Not recorded, so you can see what needs renewing.
Submit updates in two steps
- Upload your new documents. Pick a file for each document you’re renewing.
- Enter the new expiration dates. Under each date field, the page tells you which document has to go with it.
When you submit, a message confirms your update was received and gives you a button to go back to your portal.
Track your submission
Pending updates appear in the My Active Applications table on your My BNZ Portal, marked Pending Review. Once staff approve an update, your contractor record is changed to the new dates.
If staff leave review notes, for example asking for a corrected insurance certificate, a Review Notes badge appears on that row. Click Open Update to go back to the submission. The notes appear at the top of the page, and you can upload corrected documents and submit again from there. Every past submission and its status is listed under My Submissions.
Get started
Sign in to the My BNZ Portal and look up your contractor record by State License Number to start an update. If you have questions, contact the Building & Zoning Department.
