Responsibilities
of Columbia County IDA
The Columbia County IDA is responsible for working with new and existing business to provide additional employment opportunities for the citizens of Columbia County. The IDA serves as the Economic Development Office for Columbia County.
A seven-member board appointed by the Columbia County Board of County Commissioners supervises the IDA. The IDA works in partnership with the Lake City-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce to provide staff under the direction of an Executive Director who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of both organizations.
Role
of IDA
The Board of Directors of the Columbia County IDA according to statute will review and recommend to the Board of County Commissioners a company’s request to be funded under an Industrial Revenue Bond. The Bond is based on availability under State of Florida guidelines. The County has no financial obligation for the bond, but must give approval in order for the Company to receive approval for the Bond.
Assistance
Provided by the IDA
The Columbia County IDA will work with new and existing companies to provide necessary assistance to bring about successful location or expansion for business in Columbia County.
Partnership
The Columbia County IDA works with the Chamber of Commerce to provide a positive business climate for companies conducting business in Columbia County.
